For the role of Global Project Management Officer you will be responsible for ensuring that you take leadership of the global SL PMO function, covering project governance and adherence to global processes and guidelines, proactive project portfolio analysis and alerting, and maintenance of a knowledge base supporting the SL project delivery function. Structuring and managing selected strategic projects within the Global SL organization to drive change and effectiveness of the business unit, ensuring that the project is delivered on time, to budget and to the required quality standard (within agreed specifications). He/she ensures the project is effectively resourced and manages relationships with a wide range of groups (including all project contributors).
Key Responsibilities in this role will include;
Managing and leading the Global project team.
Identifying project staff and consultants.
Managing co-ordination of the partners and working groups engaged in project work.
Detailed project planning and control including:
Developing and maintaining a detailed project plan.
Managing project deliverables in line with the project plan.
Recording and managing project issues and escalating where necessary.
Resolving cross-functional issues at project level.
Managing project scope and change control and escalating issues where necessary.
Monitoring project progress and performance.
Providing status reports to the project sponsor and stakeholders.
Managing project within the defined budget.
Liaises with, and updates progress to, project board/senior management.
Managing project evaluation and dissemination activities.
Managing consultancy input within the defined budget.
Final approval of the design specification.
Working closely with users to ensure the project meets business needs.
Definition and management of the User Acceptance Testing programme.
Identifying user training needs and devising and managing user training programmes.
Day-to-day reporting, governance and control across the portfolio of global SL projects and lead the Global SL PMO calls.
Provide management of the Global SL PMO function, working with the Commercial team and Regional PMO teams to ensure continuity of processes and information flows.
Develop and implement a PMO strategy for SL, building its maturity and capability across Business and IT.
Support the development of the global & regional SL project delivery community – including skills assessment, training programmes, processes and toolsets.
Provide a global SL source of competency on key tools and methodologies including DePICT, IT Supplemental, Plainview and PMO Database.
Monitor the health of the global and regional SPL project portfolios and identify project risks which may lead to failure
Proactively identify and initiate preventative and recovery actions, agree these with the relevant steering groups and Regional PMOs when appropriate, escalate for support into Global Board if required
Undertake selected preventative/recovery actions on selected SPL projects by directly working with Regional PMOs and PMs remotely and on the ground
Manage the monthly portfolio review meetings focusing on project risks and generating a project watch list for SL
Manage global SL project reporting to business and IT global and regional stakeholders covering metrics and KPIs
Directly manage a small, selected portfolio of programmes and projects - both strategic internal initiatives or customer facing projects.
Manage a virtual multi-functional project team composed of DHL representatives
Key skills and experience in this role will include:

Excellent experience of project management, including practical experience of DePICT & IT Supplemental
