Overall Role Purpose

The key purpose of this role is to ensure sound understanding of business requirements, specify appropriate business solutions and assess impact of change on the current business environment. Business solutions include business processes (manual or automated), associated performance measures, business rules, standards and technology, including IT systems.

To be a centre of competency in the area of focus and provide leadership in applying business analysis best practices, tools, internal standards within the organization and the management and consumption of use cases of Network and Service Information.

Accountabilities

  • Drive close liaison and coordination with internal functions (CS, ESS, Net Ops, Sales, Pricing, Products, IT) when defining the requirements and business solutions

  • Make recommendations to process owners and project managers and the different approval bodies (Investment Committees, Project Boards, Functional heads etc.)

  • Document and detail findings on a regular basis with the relevant content board, and support with recommendations

  • Manage change requests with cross-functional impact.

  • Lead functional team(s) in understanding new and amended business solutions

  • Provide expertise in specific areas of the business that have particular cross-functional relevance

  • Deliver clearly articulated business requirements to architects and designers and ensure understanding

  • Drive issue resolution with subject matter experts

  • Gather, understand, and prioritise business problems, opportunities and requirements from business stakeholders

  • Deliver business oriented and structured analysis of requirements within a given scope, so that the business needs and benefits are clearly defined

  • Specify business solution and assess impact on organization of a proposed solution, gaining buy-in and agreement to the solution

  • Work across organization to ensure the required level of understanding in order to introduce the change expected with a given business solution

  • Ensure requirements are fully documented, justified, agreed and handed over to suppliers, IT and/or other, for further technical analysis, design and ultimately development

  • Ensure proposals delivered by IT and other suppliers as part of the design are understood, meet business needs and are explained to the user community

  • Drive issue resolution with stakeholders

  • Support preparation and execution of a structured test approach and the timely testing (from business perspective) of delivered solutions.  Ensure suppliers understand any issue identified.

  • Ensure a consistent approach is maintained and that solutions integrate with the rest of the business.  To escalate any major inconsistency in approach to Project Managers.

  • Monitor and analyze newly implemented solutions to ensure delivery of the expected solution and associated benefits

  • Work with project and program managers to plan the delivery of a business solution, identifying dependencies, issues and strategies/resolutions for risk mitigation

  • Lead and coordinate analysis work streams/teams, ensuring that the project manager is aware of progress and any divergence from plan

  • Quality assurance of analysis deliverables produced by others

  • Resolution of day-to-day business issues requiring cross-functional co-ordination and insight

  • Project management of project(s) where appropriate

  • Leadership and co-ordination of a virtual team of business analysts and subject matter experts

    Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 to 10 years’ experience in an analytical, project orientated or wider change management role

  • Experienced in liaising with senior managers both within the organization and outside agencies

  • Well-developed analytical skills with related experience in the use of structured methodologies, modelling techniques and tools and / or willingness to adopt new techniques. Relevant certification (e.g. BABOK) preferred.

  • Excellent analytical skills supported by technical ability to work with large data sets (Data Analytics)

  • Good understanding of project management processes and methods, preferably PRINCE 2.

  • Excellent IT skills and IT aptitude including a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office products and use of modelling tools

  • Highly motivated with an ability to manage varying workloads against timescales as well as small teams of analysts and subject matter experts

  • Practical experience of business process analysis, mapping and implementing process change

  • Demonstrable experience in the analysis, design and implementation of business and IT solutions

  • Highly motivated with an ability to manage varying workloads against timescales

  • Good facilitation skills

  • Strong creative thinking and the ability to see from a macro perspective

  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Strong written and spoken English

  • Good conceptual and data modeling skills/ability

  • Good understanding of the existing processes and solutions of the business with strong business acumen

  • Good understanding of the principles of change management

  • First Choice or equivalent continuous improvement methodology experience preferred

  • Willing to travel to other locations as required

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant disciplines
