Role Purpose

• Create, plan and communicate the DHL Express Information Security framework

• Define the required policies, processes, standards and compliance models required to meet legal and regulatory requirements, protect DHL and customer data and protect the brand and reputation of DHL Express and DHL

• Provide strong leadership to develop and support Global, Regional and Country information security teams in the implementation of the strategy

• Provide subject matter expertise to the CIO Global, and the IT Executive committee in order to support the creation of business cases and deployment plans that are achievable

• Drives Global, Regional and Country Teams and strategic IT partners to develop and implement innovative and effective information security solutions providing the business teams with a demonstrable differentiated capability and or cost / value advantage over the competition


• Manage and report Information Security risks for the enterprise

• Develop and maintain an Information Security blueprint, consisting policies, standards and best practice for the development, implementation and management of future IT services

• Work with regional/country IT and risk teams to coordinate activities to mitigate agreed risk priorities

• Report on effectiveness of Information Security to senior management with explicit focus on high risk / high impact assessments and pragmatic recommendations for resolution

• Identify changes of local legislation and how this effects IT Security and Data Protection and/or adherence to the Deutsche Post DHL Data Privacy Policy

• Work with business and IT management to define, and manage processes to facilitate effective business continuity and integrated disaster recovery services

• Represent DHL Express on IT Security at the DPDHL IT Security committee

• Support GFPS and other Sales teams on RFPs with customers where Information Security is a key topic

• Lead and coordinate the development of DHL Express security strategy with the process, data, application and technology leads in the relevant business and IT communities within DPDHL

• Develop and integrate Information security governance processes and procedures within existing IT Architecture, IT Program Delivery and IT Service Management functions

• Educate both business and IT communities on the importance of Information security

• Coordinate Information Security communications to DHL Express management and staff ensuring appropriate visibility to existing and new risks and appropriate mitigation actions and plans

• Provide thought leadership to Information Security personnel within the various IT functional groups ensuring appropriate consistency and focus is being applied

• Where requested, work with business and customer facing IT teams to present Information Security strategy to existing and / or new major customer accounts

• Work with the corporate IT management to define and implement processes for the effective management of IT risk within the Division

• Representing DHL Express Information Security at DPDHL Corporate functions and with external parties

• Information Security alignment with IT Services, Corporate HR, Legal on IT Fraud, Data Protection and Compliance Policies

• Alignment with Architecture, Technology, IT & Enterprise strategies

• Information Security assessment of existing and newly proposed IT systems implementations

• Education and awareness of Information Security and Risks

• Strategic input on planning. Tracking and reporting of potential risks and exposures et cetera

• Ensure alignment of IT risk management within Express IT

• Budget management and Staffing, day-to day management of Cyber Security Expertise Center

• Dotted line manager for regional Information Security managers


• Educated to degree level or equivalent combination of experience and education

• Minimum of 15 years in senior management role with at least 10 years in senior Information Security management

• Minimum of 3 years in multinational/ multicultural environment

• Formal Information Security Accreditation (eg., CISSP, CISM, ISM)

• Strong experience in Information Security and IT Risk Management

• Demonstrated analytic and reasoning skills

• Broad IT service / technical understanding

• Astute cultural awareness

• Strong diplomacy and negotiating skills

• Experience in implementation of Information Security solutions
