Legal Counsel - Technology and Telecoms
DPDHL is hiring a Technology and Telecoms Legal Counsel to its team in Plantation, FL. In this role, you will be the transactional attorney advising the DPDHL business units on legal matters involving technology, telecoms, eCommerce and other Information Technology initiatives.
You will define and recommend legal strategies and objectives designed to mitigate DPDHL’s legal exposure and you’ll work with Head of Legal and the Global Head of our IT Practice Group to establish best in class legal processes and procedures to assure business objectives are met.
Your Responsibilities Include:
·Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and closing a wide range of technology transactions- hardware purchase, software licensing and software development, maintenance and support agreements, “x” as a service agreements, reseller agreements, professional services agreements, e-commerce agreements, outsourcing agreements, and telecommunication services agreements, and resolving questions on data protection compliance.
·Assisting in resolution of legal issues and disputes that may arise from existing commercial relationships.
·Advising the DPDHL businesses on broader questions resulting from the use of IT in the business environment, such as security breaches, and employee use of smart phones and social media, and providing general legal support and consulting to individuals at all levels of the company on various business IT initiatives and projects.
·A strong understanding of and experience with, intellectual property licensing, protection and related issues, and some knowledge of GDPR.
·Delivery of regular training programs to internal stakeholders and internal business colleagues.
·Advising stakeholders including each division’s business unit function IT, IT Services, Procurement, and Operations.
·Supporting /training and assisting business lawyers on key technology issues in client contracts.
Your Background Includes:
·A University law degree and professional certifications
·5-7 years legal experience in Telecom and Technology within a commercial law firm and/or in house legal department; excellent written and verbal communication skills
·Strong legal and drafting skills with ability to apply legal knowledge and expertise in business environment
·Sound transactional experience in telecom and technology legal work.
·Ability to work independently with people from all levels across our divisions.
·Ability to build strong working relationships with the internal international business partners.
·Ability to work efficiently on multiple projects in parallel, meet demanding deadlines, and prioritize workflow, and should be adaptable, service-oriented, flexible and highly motivated.
· Fluent in English including being able to draft and negotiate complex contractual documents in English.
· Additional language skills and international expertise a bonus.
