Regional Compliance Officer - Apec

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Express Global Compliance, this role drives and directs the DHL Express Compliance Organization to ensure the observance of external laws and regulations. The role must also drive regional adherence to the Express & DPDHL Compliance policy requirements. This is achieved through guiding of the internal embedded Compliance Organisation in the Region as well as through the collaboration with global and regional functions in making sure the proper functioning of the worldwide Compliance Management System.

The role also must support development and deployment of the Compliance Management System within the Region and drive alignment across the region to the Global Standards. Concurrent to this, this role must lead the virtual compliance teams in the Region to reduce bureaucracy and contribute to maintaining a lean but effective Compliance Organization. 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the regulatory requirements from the Global and Corporate Compliance Teams, and drive through the compliance organization.

  • Maintain a close relationship with the APEC CEO and APEC MB to ensure that they are engaged, fully aware of responsibilities, risks and issues.

  • Contribute as part of the global compliance organisation to the development of a strategic and tactical Global Compliance Organisation, Compliance Policy and Processes and Drive alignment across Regional & Country Legal, Risk Management, Audit, Procurement teams with compliance related programs and guidelines across region of responsibility.

  • Align and coordinate Trade Law issues with the Export Control Officer.

  • Ensure that local virtual teams and related process owners are appointed, updated, aware of responsibilities, identified individuals are certified (CIS) and are equipped to adequately perform their duties in a sustainable way.

  • Countries and entities are audited are and certified to the agreed global standards.

  • Provide Leadership and direction to regional and country office to ensure compliance to all compliance guidelines and programs.

  • Develop and deploy the necessary tools and resources in conjunction with Global Compliance to enable businesses to respond to compliance related requests from customers and the field.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Legal, Compliance, Finance, or a related field as a minimum

  • Post Graduate Study in Law, Compliance or Related Field beneficial

  • Wide experience in compliance, internal control and risk management areas

  • Prior success in building and enhancing compliance and risk management framework and related tools & resources in multinationals

  • Senior level representational experience with strong professional network

  • An understanding of express business and operations would be an advantage
