YOUR TASKS:
  • The Vice President Security Express Europe provides strategic security management direction and drives the security agenda at a Regional level in order to minimize the risk and maximize the security of DHL staff, company assets, and customer’s shipments and protect our brand reputation and to implement appropriate measures to adhere to legal and customer requirements.
  • The role is to ensure security compliance to prevailing internal and external policies and guidelines and that DHL is the acknowledged benchmark for security excellence in the express industry.
  • In conjunction with the countries, set the overall security standards of all DHL's assets, staff, customer's shipments and network.
  • Act as the primary interface between country and regional operations management, ensuring that the plans for security are challenging and achievable.         
  •  To ensure and engage with customers where required in his/her geographical area of responsibility for the implementation of customer security programs and alignment of those with DHL security programs in communication and collaboration with all DHL customers, in particular their Security Departments on ways to enhance the security of their shipments and processes.
  • Sponsor for practical security support to sales, providing a professional security consultancy service to clients. Defines strategy, meets or exceeds customer’s security requirements. 
  • Foster & develop functional relationships with high level authorities – including law enforcement, governmental bodies and international security agencies. Act as a divisions Senior Security representative.
  • Promote and support best-practice transfer and monitor the progress of the agreed actions.
  • Provides functional support and guidance to the organization regarding all matters of Aviation Security and Express Security.
  • Responsible in ensuring DHL Express EU compliancy with all relevant regional and country regulations related to Aviation Security and Cargo Security.
  • Proactively reports any change in regulatory requirements and other relevant regulatory authorities provisions to the organization.
  • Member of Regional Network Operations Management Team, Represent Europe on the Global Security Steering Group, Coordinate the Airline Security Steering Group (ASSG).
  • External representations:
    o EEA - European Express Association Security committee
    o SAGAS – Stakeholder advisory group for aviation security
    o AEA – Association of European Airlines
    o TAPA – Transported Assets Protection Association
    o Other associations as deemed necessary
  • Maintain a current focus on security risks and threats posed to the express business, propose and implement measures to minimize loss to the company and identify possible areas of exposure and/or liability incl. those of personal risk.
  • Develop express security concepts including crisis management, policy, strategies, divisional programs and management reviews.
  • Manage or lead sensitive investigations.
  • Ensure the divisional implementation of Corporate / Group wide security programs.
  • Co-ordinate DHL's express response to regulatory changes related to security.
  • Define KPI and target setting for regional and country initiatives.        
  • Provide functional leadership to the entire Security Managers in Europe, developing an operational culture that strives for cost efficiency, quality and change for better.
  • Motivate, coach and retain qualified staff; provide support, expertise and management training to direct reports.
  • Set KPI’s for individual direct reports.  Drive roll-out of individual KPI’s concept at all levels.
  • Support staff onward career development.
  • Develop and promote team spirit and communication channels within the group and the function within the countries.


YOUR PROFILE:
  • University Degree in Security or Business Management or other Certifications in the field of security are 
    preferable can be beneficial: CPP, PSP, Aviation Security Management, CFE.
  • Minimum 10 years management experience in an international service related environment with at least 5 years of experience in global express and/or freight forwarding business.
  • Project management and planning skills on global level.
  • Ability to define/develop and manage security improvement projects.
  • Highly developed effective communication skills.
  • High level of cross-cultural competency and interpersonal understanding.
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving skills highly developed.
  • High proficiency in change management and negotiating skills.
  • Good knowledge of the business division (operational procedures).
  • In-depth knowledge of European and National Aviation Security regulations.
  • Strong analytical and pragmatic Aviation Security problem solving and high-level reasoning skills.
  • Advanced Aviation Security knowledge regarding screening and protection of secured air cargo, both pragmatic and theoretical based upon EU Aviation Security requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a high ability to influence positively.
  • Able to manage in a matrix environment, with unclear hierarchical lines.
  • Diplomatic, tactful, patient and sensitive to cultural differences.
  • Excellent investigative and reporting skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel (can be up to 70%), including travel at very short notice.
  • In depth knowledge of express operations processes preferred.
