Reporting
to Operations Manager


Purpose:

Adherence to Global-SOP,
drive KPI improvement, develop production development opportunities and support
all functions within the sort operations. 
The Senior Supervisor will perform duties normally covered by the
Operations Manager during periods of absence and during periods in the weekly
shift roster where there is no Operations Manager on site.

The nature of the company’s business dictates that
procedures and routings of material are constantly changing.  It is the job holder’s responsibility to
ensure that these changes are implemented, monitored and the efficiency
reported to Senior Management.


Key
activities

Compile daily reports for LHR Operations
ManagersGuide and advise staff Provide daily briefings to Supervisors and
ensure Supervisors also deliver daily Performance Dialogue Boards.Develop and identify training and schedule needs
of team.Deputise for LHR Operations Managers as
required, during specific periods of the week and during other absences. Develop relationships with key stakeholders with
the LHR Operation


 Manage and direct the
Outbound/Inbound sort and ramp operations; direct, lead and revise the
implementation of Contingency Plans.
Ensure awareness of
policies and rules, maintain commitment on Quality and Environmental
Systems, identify and promote continuous improvements aligning with
Company strategies on quality and environment.
Ensure material is
handled in accordance with company policy & procedures
Ensure scheduled
departure of material.
Ensure all updates of
procedures are communicated to all staff in an accurate & timely
manner.

 Motivate & develop
& coach all staff, identifying staff training needs.

 Plan staffing levels
in consideration of changing company objectives & business growth.
Making decisions daily
based on observations made by Supervisors to improve the flow of material.

Staff planning and
monitoring individual performance.
Ensuring that the
working environment & equipment are maintained. 
Communication &
co-operation with other managers.  

H&S

Take accountability
for ensuring H&S compliance, attending relevant company forums and ensuring
First Choice tools are used (such as GEMBA walks and Performance Dialogue
Boards) to reduce the risk of H&S issues through effective communication
and risk management.

Ensure all roles have
SSOW allocated to their tasks, in partnership with the H&S advisor. Ensure that H&S procedures are followed,
supporting the H&S functions where appropriate with risk assessments , accidents are investigated
& reported & that the working environment & equipment are
maintained. Ensuring that work practices & procedures are carried out safely

DHL Operational
Network knowledge (10 yrs) or equivalent experience

Proven record
in managing a large team of people

DHL Operational
knowledge of all functions (Sort, Ramp, NCG, Truck Watch)

Understanding
of general air cargo operations, associated aircraft and Aviation legislative
policies
