Head of Legal MENAT for Express, with dotted line reporting to the VP and Head of Legal Services EEMEA.
Providing legal support to SNAS Post Est. (DHL Express Saudi Arabia) and the wider MENAT area as needed from time to time.
§Contract Review: Drafting and reviewing customer and supplier contracts and other legal documents, with a particular eye on the requirements, priorities and interests of the DHL business.
§In-house Advice: Liaising with other members of the Legal Department, providing professional advice and guidance to intra-company customers. Assisting in providing risk analysis with respect to legal and commercial matters, as well as guidance and training, in order to protect income and promote business while minimising risk for the company.
§Projects: Participating in projects and practice groups, creating and rolling out standard contracts, in order to create efficiencies, promote standardisation and ensure departmental visibility in Saudi Arabia.
§External Counsel: Liaising with external legal counsel across the region to assist in handling legal matters covering various areas of the law, such as commercial/corporate, litigation, human resources, tax, finance and regulatory matters. This involves hands-on management of matters, relationships and costs.
§Awareness: Maintaining awareness of relevant laws and changes in the law that may have an impact on company interests, with a particular focus on the industry and the jurisdiction involved. Liaison with external government and semi-governmental bodies. Provide research material as required for business purposes from time to time.
§Compliance: Being able to spot any possible compliance issues, and ensuring preventive measures are taken so as to protect the legal and commercial interests of the company.
§Reporting: Producing regular and ad-hoc reports and providing other administrative assistance within the Legal Department.
§Miscellaneous: Managing enquiries from international departmental functions, carrying out tasks as required in order to support the Legal Department team members and business units.
3.Nature and Scope
Operating within the MENAT Legal Department, providing a broad range of legal support and services to DHL Express in Saudi Arabia. Supporting commercial and operational entities in order to maximise business opportunities with minimal risk of legal exposure. There may also be opportunities to be involved in and provide support to the wider East Europe, Middle East and Africa (EEMEA) DHL Legal division.
Reports to the Head of Legal MENAT based in Dubai with dotted line reporting to the VP and Head of Legal Services EEMEA, and has accountability to the Saudi Arabia Country Manager for DHL Express and the CEO MENA for DHL Express, as determined from time to time.
Gathering accurate information from internal business partners, governmental departments and external legal counsel, as well as conducting legal and other research, in order to compile effective and accurate status reports and to suggest solutions on a number of various legal matters.
Proposing solutions to the Head of Legal MENAT, handling complex legal challenges by correctly identifying legal and commercial issues, and using available resources to resolve such challenges in the best interests of the company.
Needs to base decisions on sound legal expertise in order to minimise exposure and maximise business opportunities. The Head of Legal MENAT will determine on a case-by-case basis the degree of autonomy this role has.
(f)Planning and Organisation
The candidate needs to be able to effectively manage and prioritise multiple tasks and activities to ensure timely response to requests and resolution of issues. Co-ordination between various departments may be involved in order to ensure input from all stakeholders has been collected before relevant deadlines.
Ability to effectively manage multiple challenges whilst ensuring meeting of deadlines and maintaining high levels of responsiveness to internal clients.
4.Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Bachelor Degree in Law or Juris Doctor qualifications, 3-4 years PQE and a person with experience from a reputable law firm, will be considered.
Some travel outside Saudi Arabia may be required;
