Safety & Security Manager - Chile

Role Purpose

Establishes and directs health and safety policies which meet organization, customer and government regulations within the following functions: health and safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental protection. 

Main Responsibilities

  • Directs and implements procedures and systems for visitor control, employee identification, and building and employee security. 
  • Oversees internal investigations of theft, fraud, and competitor intelligence gathering. 

  • Develops and reviews new and existing safety and security programs and training initiatives. 

  • Recommends measures to reduce or eliminate industrial accident and health hazards in compliance with occupational safety regulations. 

  • Supervises workplace inspections to detect existing or potential accidental health hazards and analyzes results of internal and external audits. 

  • Prepares legally required reports and any regular or special documents for use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations. 

  • Serves as a liaison with local fire departments, area hospitals, law enforcement and other outside agencies regarding employee security, safety and health programs. 

  • Directs programs to address environmental issues, and oversees hazardous material disposal. 

  • Represents DHL’s interests at industry safety activities. 

  • Oversees the maintenance and effective operation of the organization’s security and personal protective equipment. 

  • Selects and supervises outside protective services contractors.

  • Ensures appropriate fraud investigations, reporting to appropriate authorities, and documentation for prosecution. 

  • Supervises special investigation unit staff and conducts training for company personnel to detect potential fraudulent situations. 

  • Oversees the investigation of fraudulent Workers’ Compensation claims in conjunction with insurance companies. 

  • Manages management reports, company data, personnel files, investigations and any other confidential matter under strict confidentiality.

  • Representative of the company before the national authorities of Occupational Safety and Health, the Environment, unions, workers' associations and other government institutions that so require.

  • Representative of the company before active clients or requiring specialized attention in the area

  • Plan and coordinate the actions to be taken in planning training in safety, hygiene and environment

  • Conducts and directs audits, job evaluations, in order to ensure compliance with ordinary and extraordinary policies, programs and procedures in all locations in the country

  • Actively participates in the design and control of infrastructure projects, whether they are remodeling, adaptation or new means of work, in order to carry out protocols that meet the requirements of the different regulations in force.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Professional Degree: Administration, Industrial Engineer or for purposes with a specialty in Security and Safety.

  • More than of 5 years in realted Fields or managing similar positions.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Use of the English language at an intermediate level (preferably)

  • High Capacity for Analysis, Organization and Planning.
  • Ability to work in team.
  • Excellent level and ability to interact with people of different hierarchical levels.

  • Ability to lead work teams.
  • Adaptability to work in situations under pressure.
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills
